10 Favourite Indie Rock Bands/Artists

Hey guys, it's Naomi here! Happy New Year and I hope you've all had a great start to 2016! Being a fan of Indie Rock since a young age, today I thought I would share with you the bands and artists I listen to. These bands and artists come from all over the world: Australia, New Zealand, America, Ireland and England! I hope you enjoy and comment what your favourite Indie Rock band/artist is!

The 1975

This Mancunian indie rock band are definitely one to watch. With Matty's unique voice and the different instruments these guys play, each song has a different vibe. Which I like. No song sounds the same as the other, but your still able to tell it's The 1975. That's what I love about them. Here's a few songs by them!:

'Chocolate'
Released: March 4, 2013

'Settle Down'
Released: February 23, 2014

'The City'
Released: August 9, 2012

'UGH!'
Released: December 18, 2015

The Temper Trap

This was the first band I really got into and was the first gig I attended. I then went to see them again about 3/4 times. The Temper Trap have a great sound and I often hear their songs on adverts. They are also amazing live so if you get the chance, I definitely recommend going to one of their shows! Have a listen here!:

Ladyhawke

With not many female indie artists, I really like Ladyhawke. I like that her voice is quite masculine, but still sounding like a girl. Her sound is quite strong and powerful which I love. I haven't herd another female artist which I also love as her voice is quite unique. Here's some of her songs; have a listen here:

'My Delirium'

'Magic'
Released: September 27, 2009

Yeasayer

What I love about this band is that some songs are upbeat and others are more calm and mellow. This is a good variations as when your in different moods, you don't have to switch artists. Similar to The 1975, every song is different but when you hear a song, you can still tell it's Yeasayer. A lot of their songs from Odd Blood were also featured in popular TV shows and movies like '90210', 'America's Next Top Model' and 'Pitch Perfect'. Have a listen here!:

'Wait For The Summer'

'Madder Red'
Released: September 24, 2010

Local Natives

From seeing them perform live before, one of my favourite things about this band is the quality of singing. They have beautiful voices and can harmonize really well. They have a nice, mellow rock-y sound with great guitar riffs and are still exceptional singers. They balance this together wonderfully to make great music. Have a listen here!:

'Sun Hands'

'Wide Eyes'

Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club definitely deserve a spot on this list! I recently bought their 'Tour History' CD and I have to say, they are all hit songs. They produce such feel-good music that always makes me feel great. If ever your in a bad mood, just chuck on one of their songs and they'll have you dancing around your bedroom. I love the catchy beats, quirky voices and good vibes that come from them! Check them out here!:

Bombay Bicycle Club

I love Bombay Bicycle Club and how unique Jack's voice is (the lead singer). They've managed to mix the sound of real instruments and electronic music to create the perfect balance which is a joy to listen to. The music they produce is amazing and if you haven't already, have a listen to these songs!:

'Luna'
Released: Jan 6, 2014

'Always  Like This'
Released: June 7, 2010

Jake Bugg

With Jake Bugg only being 21 years of age, he is definitely a talented guy and one to watch out for. I love how he's taken indie rock and put a country, folky twist on it. His voice is so unique, it's amazing. He is also a pro at guitar and has worked with people like Rick Rubin, Mike Crossey and Iain Archer. Have a listen to this talented guy here!:

'Seen It All'
Released: Feburary 24, 2013

'Messed Up Kids'

'What Doesn't Kill Ya'
Released: September 23, 2013

Oasis

I know they aren't together anymore, but this 90s band was arguably one of the best, most iconic bands to come out during this era. They have loads of hits and were very successful. I grew up on them and still listen to them to this day. I saw Jake Bugg in October of 2014 in London and as we were waiting for Jake to come on stage, Champagne Supernova played and nearly everyone was singing it! It was amazing how everyone knew the song but it shows that Oasis definitely made their mark in this genre. Have a listen here!:

'Champagne Supernova'
Released: May 13, 1996
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI-5uv4wryI

'Wonderwall'
Released: October 30, 1995

'Don't Look Back In Anger'
Released: February 19, 1996
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmpRLQZkTb8

MGMT

I love that this American band have a very electronic sound without it sounding like pop music. There are slight elements of instruments but unlike the other bands, I love that it is mostly electronic. I love the vibes from their music and so do NME by the looks of it. They won Best Album of 2008 which was 'Oracular Spectacular' in 2009 along with Best New Band and 'Time To Pretend' was awarded Best Breakthrough Track in 2008 and Best Track in 2009. Have a listen to this duo here!:

Kid Ink Drops Surprise Album 'Summer In The Winter' on Christmas Day!

Following his Full Speed album released earlier this year in January, Kid Ink released a new mixtape 'Summer In The Winter' on Christmas day. What a great Christmas present! After tweeting that he had new music for us fans, he didn't lie. Failing to disappoint yet again, 'Summer In The Winter' is already ranked #2 on Itunes as the one of the Top Albums only 4 days later. Kid Ink also released a music video on the 24th Dec of 'Blowin' Swishers Pt. 2' following Pt. 1 released way back in 2010. Just a few days after this, he also released a video for his new song 'Bunny Ranch' which comes on the new album. You can watch both videos here:

'Blowin' Swishers Pt. 2'
'Bunny Ranch'

'Summer In The Winter' has real hard tunes like 'That's On You' which has a real party vibe and 'Real Recognize' which has a hard trap-like beat. As well as Brian's solo songs, This album contains great collaborations with people like Fetty Wap, Omarion, Bia and Akon. You can listen to most of the audios on his channel:

He has also revealed that a summer album will be released: "After this project I'm going back to dropping in the Summer cycle... 3 winters in a row we dropped! Time for a Summer album" (Quote from Twitter). With this only being tweeted a day after 'Summer In The Winter', Kid Ink's constantly producing great music and always putting out tune after tune. Brian's hard work and dedication is definitely paying off so lets help and get his album to #1 on Itunes!

Thanks for reading and be sure to tell me in the comments below what your favourite song is!

Peace Out!

Tokio Hotel - Feel It All World Tour 2015

Hey guys, Naomi here! Earlier this year in March, I went to see Tokio Hotel live for the first show of their Feel It All World Tour Part 1. I decided I'd just share my experience with you guys to give you some info and pics. Enjoy and tell me in the comments if you've attended a Tokio Hotel concert!

Date: 06/03/2015
Location: Islington Assembly Hall

The venue from outside
With Tokio Hotel being my FAVOURITE band, seeing them was amazing! I first saw the tickets when they were first released and decided I wouldn't buy them due to the price: £60! But, when they sold out, I was gutted thinking I will never get to see them (they don't come to the UK that often). Then, I commented on one of Tokio Hotel's post something along the lines of 'I won't get to see you guys'. A girl commented a short while after saying they released more tickets. As soon as I saw new tickets were available, I bought them straight away (well my Dad did because he already has an account with the ticket site). I'm so glad I bought tickets and it was definitely worth the money. I took my mum with me and even with her not being an extreme fan (like me) she even said it was an amazing show and worth every penny.

There was a translucent sheet that was up on
some parts of the show at the front of the stage
and it looked amazing as the lights would make
different shapes and colours. This created suspense
at the start of the show too as it was hard
to see when Tokio Hotel would come on stage!

The venue was lovely and small, which made the show more intimate. A lot of thought was put into the show too. The lighting was amazing and the production was so large considering the venue is quite small. I like that with the lights and atmosphere, Tokio Hotel took us to a club scene and everyone really had a great time. Even if someone wasn't a fan of Tokio Hotel, they would have still enjoyed the show thoroughly.

As we entered the venue, we received a
'Feel It All' ticket. If your lucky enough to
get to go to all 15 shows in Part 1 of the 'Feel
It All World Tour', you would be able to have
all 15 tickets and If you turn them all
over and put them together, it makes a
poster. If some people had spare tickets,
they would trade online and see if they
can collect all 15 to make the poster or
even to just collect.

When my mum and I got into the venue, I went straight to a space on the middle-left while my mum went to stand on the far left. I purposely stood on the left knowing that Tom plays on this side (from watching other gigs on YouTube) and I LOVE TOM! While standing there waiting for Tokio Hotel, I made friends with a really friendly, funny girl from Norway whom I talk to from time to time. Like me, this was her first Tokio Hotel gig so we were both so excited to see them live. This made the experience even more wonderful because none of my friends are aliens and it was great to meet and talk with a fellow alien.

What I also loved about the show is that they sang 'Durch Den Monsun' instead of the English version, 'Monsoon'. I do like the English version but I absolutely love the German version as I think it sounds better and I just love the language! As well as songs from the new album, Kings Of Suburbia, they also played some old songs like: 'Darkside Of The Sun', 'Noise, 'Screamin', 'Rescue Me' and a remix of 'Automatic' which was great!

At the merch stand, I bought a T shirt saying 'Kings Of Suburbia' which is the name of the new album and it's one of my favourite shirts! Here's a pic I took in the bathroom of the venue with the T shirt on!:

Having been to many gigs, I have to say, this was definitely one of the best I have been too. I would highly recommend listening to Tokio Hotel (if you haven't already) and I'll link some down below. Have a listen here!:

'Monsoon'
2007

'Automatic'
2009

'Girl Got A Gun'
2014

'Run Run Run'
2014

Here is a link to the full Kings Of Suburbia Album:

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the info and pics! Be sure to comment your favourite concert you've been to or even your favourite Tokio Hotel song!

Peace Out!

Songs and Albums Of The Year

Hey guys; it's Naomi here! Seeing as its coming up to the end of 2015, I thought I would share with you some of the best music from the year. These tunes range from artists like Bring The Horizon & Panic! At The Disco to Kid Ink and Fetty Wap. Hope you enjoy!

Bring Me The Horizon - That's the Spirit

This is definitely one of my fave albums of the year and deserves a place on this list! I decided to include a picture of the CD because I have to say, the art work of this CD and packing is so creative. From only being a fan of alternative music for just over a year, this album isn't too hard core but still has the rocky, grungy feel to it. I like that you can hear the different range of instruments from the violin to the heavy distorted guitar riffs and the beats from the drums as well as the electronic sound. I also like that each song is different on the album which makes it hard to pick just one favourite! Here's a few of the singles they released before 'That's The Spirit' was released on 11 September 2015!:

'Happy Song'
Released: July 12, 2015

'Throne'
Released: July 23, 2015

'True Friends'
Released: August 25, 2015

David Zowie - House Every Weekend

I love dancing & cutting shapes; this song is perfect for that! I love how upbeat it is and the video is great. This song is great at parties and gets everyone on their feet; It's a real feel-good song! Have a little look here!:

'House Every Weekend'
Released: May 1, 2015

Panic! At The Disco - Emperor's New Clothes

I've always liked Panic! At The Disco and I have to say, they've done it again! This catchy, upbeat song is really addictive and I love the choir-like voices in between Brendon's amazing singing voice. Also, in the music video, I love that they have started it from the end of another great single: This Is Gospel. I love that this is like a carry on; like a story. The 'Beyond the Video' uploaded a short while after also explains this and watching this made the music video even better (I'll link this down below). As Brendon changes into this demon-like creature, you can see how his appearance changes gradually which is amazing because he looks completely different at the end of the video. The makeup and special effects used in this video is what impresses me most about the video. Take a look!:

'Emperor's New Clothes'
Released: October 21, 2015

'Emperor's New Clothes' (Beyond The Video)
Released: October 30, 2015

Wstrn - In2

AH! This is a song I never get bored of! I love the beat, the catchy chorus and the variation of verses. I love that some verses are rapped, and others sung. The individual voices in this track are also unique and different. Overall, I love how this song is composed and wouldn't change anything about it! It's just one of them songs I automatically bop my head to when played. I also like the music video and how the image is black and white and then it looks like its been doodled on in colour. This makes the colour back against grey tones pop and gives it a fun vibe. Watch it here!:

'In2'
Released: October 13, 2015

Panic! At The Disco - Hallelujah

I know I've already mentioned a song by Panic! At The Disco, but this is another song I really like. I love that is sounds slightly gospel-ish and is completely different then the usual Panic! sound. I like the different optical illusions used in the music video too and the passion Brendon has when he sings is great to watch. See it here!:

'Hallelujah'
Released: July 7, 2015

Kid Ink - Full Speed Album

Being a big fan of Kid Ink since 2012/13, his new music still has me hooked! I love the album cover and listen to this CD often. I love the beat of the songs and Kid Ink's raps. The collaboration songs on 'Full Speed' have been quite successful with songs like 'Body Language' (featuring Usher and Tinashe) and 'Be Real' (featuring DeJ Loaf) getting lots of coverage, both being certified 'Gold'. 'Hotel' (featuring Chris Brown) also has a brilliant music video which is all sketched and very cleverly done. I highly recommend this CD because his other songs on it are just as great. Here's a few of my favourites including the ones I mentioned!:

'Be Real'
Released: March 31, 2015

'Body Language'
Released: October 27, 2014 (this single was released the year before but its on the album which was released in 2015 and it's a cool tune! ;) )

'Hotel'
Released: Jun 9, 2015

'Diamonds And Gold'
Realeased: Jan 30, 2015 (A music video was not filmed for this song, but it's one of my faves and had to add it! So it was released along with the album)

'Dolo'
Released: Jan 30, 2015 (This also doesn't have a music video but still a tune!)

The 1975 - Love Me & UGH!

Following The 1975's Self titled debut album in 2013, they are back with a more fun, colourful image. This is the first single released before they release the album: 'I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It' in February 2016. I love this change and this song is everything! I love the 80's vibe and the beat just make me want to dance! Have a listen to it here!:

'Love Me'
Released: October 28, 2015

UGH! Having only listened to this song a few times, I love it already! It's only been released for a week now and I'm so excited for the new album. This song also has an 80's vibe which I am loving. The video for this song is also great. I love the blue, pink and white tones & colours contrasting with the black background. I love Matty's dancing in this
video too! Take a look here!:

'UGH!'
Released: December 18, 2015

Fetty Wap - Fetty Wap Album

Being a new rapper in the music industry, he has definitely made his mark. He has such a unique voice and he can rap and sing which adds variation to his songs. When I first herd 'Trap Queen', I thought it was a collaboration of two artists and was surprised that he sings the chorus AND raps the verse. I also like the music video for 'Trap Queen' as it isn't a typical rap video. I like that there are kids and people of all ages there together, singing his song. He is one of my favourite rappers now and already has loads of hits. Here are some of my favourites from this album; Enjoy!:

'Trap Queen'
Released: August 7, 2014 (This song was released earlier than the album which was released on September 25, 2015)

'679'
Released: July 8, 2015

'Again'
Released: August 13, 2015 (Just the audio)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77suwtdWzpk

Justin Bieber - Purpose Album

There's so many great tunes on this album, I couldn't pick just one. I've always liked Justin Bieber's music but I have to say, this album is one of the best. All the songs I've listened to so far can't be faulted in my book and I can't wait to hear his whole album properly! The beats in his songs are so good and each song is different. Here's my favourites; have a listen!:

'Sorry'
Released: October 22, 2015 (one of my favourite music videos!)

'I'll Show You'
Released: November 2, 2015

'Love Yourself'
Released: November 14, 2015 (Love this vid too!)

'What Do You Mean?'
Released: August 28, 2015

Pia Mia - Do It Again ft. Chris Brown & Tyga

When I first herd this, I have to say it wasn't my favourite song in the world. After seeing Pia Mia live and hearing her sing this, I LOVE it! She has an amazing voice and has nice range. I like that she collaborated with Chris and Tyga too which adds variation of female and male voices. I think this song is a great hit, earning positions in 12 different charts around the globe and being certified 'Gold' in the UK. Set in Malibu, I love the scenery and atmosphere of the whole video. Have a look here!:

'Do It Again'
Released:

The Weeknd - The Hills

The beat to this song is just so gooood! I think The Weeknd has a good voice which goes well with the beat. His voice is quite unique as I haven't herd anyone else sing this way. This is a great song to jam to and I never get tired of it. Check it out now!:

'The Hills'
Released: May 27, 2015

Keith Ape - It G Ma (featuring JayAllDay, Loota, Okasian & KOHH)

This Japanese trap song is sooo good and is definitely one of my favourites of the year! I love the beat and I've always liked the Japanese language. I like that they have mixed English with it too for the chorus. The video is also great and I love the font of writing and colours used. If you don't have Japanese trap in your life, I highly suggest you take a listen now!:

'잊지마' ('It G Ma')

Released: January 1, 2015

Years & Years - Communion

I love this album so much! The songs have good beats and are feel-good. This electronic album is great and I often play this in the car as my whole family love this CD. I can't fault this album and high recommend this to anyone. Definitely have a listen!:

'Take Shelter'

Miguel - Coffee

I have to say, I really like this song. I love how it starts, how the song develops and the overall mood of the whole song. The beat is also really good and I love the chorus. I haven't had the chance to listen to the rest of Miguel's album but I'm sure it's just as good! Have a listen to 'Coffee' here!:
